Health Canada recalls makeup remover sold in Shoppers Drug Mart

More than 6,000 bottles of Bioderma Sensibio H20 micellar water makeup remover have been recalled due to the possibility of them causing a skin or eye infection

A makeup remover sold in Shoppers Drug Mart is being recalled by Health Canada due to the possibility of it causing a skin or eye infection.

The recall involves more than 6,000 bottles of Bioderma Sensibio H20 micellar water makeup remover (850 ml) which were sold between December 2021 and February 2022.

According to Health Canada, the product is being recalled due to a “microbial hazard” and has warned people to stop using the product immediately.

The federal authority said some of the bottles may contain a common microorganism called ” which “rarely causes severe infections in healthy individuals.”

Immune compromised people most at risk

However, those with a weakened immune system or other conditions, such as a very recent surgery, could be infected.

Health Canada said that could surface in the form of a skin infection (pimples) or an eye infection, in the event of accidental contact with eyes (conjunctivitis). 

The affected products have a UPC code of 774665181779 (written on the white barcode label on the back of the bottle) and a lot number of 22414H (engraved on the bottom of the bottle).
