Residents across the Lower Mainland of B.C. were treated to a spectacular display Sunday night thanks to Mother Nature.
The skies were lit with epic lightning flashes, leading to plenty of ooohs and ahhhs from the ground, and prompting many people to pick up their cameras or phones to try to capture some of the breathtaking spectacle.
"From where I stood, I could see electrical storms up and down the whole coast of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Island from Victoria to Comox," writes Michael Thornquist, whose Instagram handle is @seaside_signs.
"I dropped what I was doing and went to check out this rare sight along the southern coast of BC. What a treat! At this point I was dry and getting eaten alive by giant mosquitos. There were only scattered clouds above my head but I soon realized the storm was heading towards the mainland so I packed up and took off as fast as I could. It took about an hour before it crossed the sea and engulfed Vancouver," continues Thornquist, who shared what he saw Iona Beach Regional Park by Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»International Airport on Sea Island in Richmond with a photo tagged #vancouverisawesome on Instagram.
He was one of many who shared their snaps from Sunday's stunner of a light show in the skies over southwestern B.C.
"Who needs Netflix?" joked Instagrammer Kevin Miklossy.
