If you were hoping to have HITMAN, OUTLAW or BAD ASS on your customized licence plate, you’re out of luck.
Those were among the nearly 2,000 that were rejected by the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia in 2019 (the most recent data available).
In total, 1,090 custom plates were rejected last year, for reasons such as religious or political connotations, the slogan is suggestive, offensive or “not in good taste,” or is alcohol or drug related, according to ICBC.
Some of the slogans were submitted more than once. Some were rejected because they were already taken.
Other reasons for rejection include, for example, the slogan exceeding six characters, being related to speeding or racing, it’s a registered trademark or its weapons or firearms related.
