B.C. Ferries’ Coastal Inspiration is scheduled to return to work today, after being pulled out for a week because of a mechanical issue.
The ferry was set to be back in service for the 1 p.m. sailing from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay.
There was a problem with the drive motor number one on the vessel, resulting in the replacement of key components, a B.C. Ferries spokesperson said.
Salish Heron was brought into service on the route while Coastal Inspiration was out of commission.
There is no indication the mechanical issue is affecting the two other Coastal-class vessels, a company spokesperson said Monday.
After Coastal Renaissance was taken out of service in 2023, it was discovered that all three Coastal-class vessels needed upgrades to their rotors.
