Canadian legend Buffy Sainte-Marie coming to free Burnaby Blues + Roots concert

Burnaby Blues + Roots has announced this year's lineup, with Buffy Sainte-Marie headlining, with more artists including Allison Russell, The Dip, Boy Golden and The Trade Offs.

The Burnaby Blues + Roots festival has announced legendary musician as this year's headliner.

Sainte-Marie, a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and activist, known for her 1964 anti-war anthem "Universal Soldier," was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005, and has won multiple awards including an Academy Award.

This outdoor festival will have food trucks (including the Brownie Bakers, the Jerk Shack, Shameless Buns and more) and a family zone. Beer and wine service will be available for the 19+ crowd.

With more performances by Grammy-nominated artist ; pop, rhythm and blues group ; hymn-jammer ; Arctic soul band with lyrics blending Inuktitut and English; and more, this year's festival promises to be one to remember.

The event has a capacity of 9,000 attendees and will not be ticketed.
