British Columbia Green party suspends leadership race over COVID-19

VICTORIA — British Columbia's Green party is suspending its leadership contest because of the new coronavirus pandemic. The party says its provincial council unanimously approved the suspension.

The party says its provincial council unanimously approved the suspension.

A decision hasn't been made on when the contest will resume.

Legislature member Adam Olsen has agreed to stay on as interim leader in the meantime.

Financial consultant Kim Darwin and legislature member Sonia Furstenau have already launched their campaigns for the leadership.

The party is also cancelling its annual convention, which was scheduled for June 26-28.
