RCMP participate at an event in Whistler.

For the second time this year, Coquitlam/Port Coquitlam RCMP will host a hiring fair.

And Metro Vancouver residents can learn more about becoming a Mountie at the career information session next month.

On Wednesday, Oct. 9, the BC RCMP recruiting team will be in Mabbett Hall at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (2150 Wilson Ave.) from 6 to 9 p.m. to talk about the application process.

Attendees can also ask questions about the police academy training as well as hear stories from officers about the profession, which has more than 150 specializations.

“There isn’t any other job where you can experience the opportunities we have within the RCMP,” said Const. Jenna Moore from BC Proactive Recruiting, in a news release. “Policing can be a challenging career, but very rewarding. Our information sessions are a great way for you to explore a career with the RCMP, meet a recruiter and network with other people considering a career as a police officer.”

For the session, job seekers are asked to bring their own mobile device, tablet or laptop to fill out an application on site — and in real time — with recruiting personnel, for the first phase of the enrolment.

Applicants are asked to arrive at the community centre 15 minutes early so the RCMP presentation can start at 6 p.m.
