There are now 10,734 cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in B.C. after health officials announced 549 new cases Tuesday.
There were 170 new cases from Friday to Saturday, 159 from Saturday to Sunday, 119 from Sunday to Monday, and 101 from Monday to Tuesday.
Five of these new cases are epi-linked.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry reports that there are 3,892 cases in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Coastal Health (VCH), 5,595 in Fraser Health, 235 on Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Island, 582 in Interior Health and 341 in Northern Health.
Additionally, there have been 89 cases of COVID-19 in B.C. of people who reside outside of Canada.
There have been four new health-care facility outbreaks, and two outbreaks have been declared over. In total, 17 long-term care or assisted-living facilities and three acute-care facilities have active outbreaks.
There have been no new community outbreaks. However, there continue to be community exposure events at other locations and on flights into and out of the province.
There have been five new COVID-19 related deaths, for a total of 250 deaths in British Columbia.
Of the total COVID-19 cases, 77 individuals are hospitalized, 24 of whom are in intensive care. The remaining people with COVID-19 are recovering at home in self-isolation. As well, 3,618 people are under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases.
There are 1,476 active cases of COVID-19 in the province and 8,974 people who tested positive for COVID-19 have recovered.
Alerts are posted on the BC Centre for Disease Control’s (BCCDC) website, as well as on health authorities’ websites, providing details on where the potential exposure occurred and what actions to take – whether you need to self-isolate or monitor for symptoms.
