What do you do with 73 pizzas and have no one around to eat them?
That was the challenge facing Pizza Factory owner Sukhi Aujla recently, when he turned up at Westwind elementary in Steveston with his usual order for pizza day at the school.
When at the school, Aujla called Barbara Bunting, the mom in charge of ordering pizzas for pizza day at the school.
鈥淪ukhi called me and said, 鈥業鈥檓 at the school with 73 pizzas,鈥欌 recalled Bunting.
鈥淗e had got the wrong day and had about $650 worth of pizza that he didn鈥檛 know what to do with.鈥
That鈥檚 when Bunting put on her other hat, that of talent acquisition director for the MDA Corporation, a satellite and robotics communication firm near No. 6 Road and Westminster Highway.
鈥淢y team (at MDA) set up three tables and emailed all 700 employees, inviting them down for pizza by donation, with proceeds going to the Christmas Fund,鈥 said Bunting.
鈥淪ukhi brought the pizzas over and so many people came down. We made $800 and used $250 of that to buy toys, to go along with the toy drive we already had going here.鈥
