Woman, 68, dies and driver airlifted to hospital in rural Nova Scotia car collision

HALIFAX — A 68-year-old woman has died and a 68-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a car collision in Nova Scotia.

HALIFAX — A 68-year-old woman has died and a 68-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a car collision in Nova Scotia.

The RCMP say a Toyota Corolla travelling north collided with a Honda Civic travelling south on Highway 326 near the community of Denmark on Sunday afternoon.

The site of the crash is about 45 kilometres north of Truro, N.S.

The passenger of the Corolla, a 68-year-old Truro woman, was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the Corolla, a 68-year-old Truro man, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital by LifeFlight.

The driver of the Civic, a 59-year-old man from Gairloch, N.S., sustained minor injuries, and his passenger, a 22-year-old woman from West River Station, N.S., was uninjured.

Highway 326 was closed for several hours after the crash on Sunday but has since reopened.
