QMJHL roundup: Patterson scores OT winner for Eagles in 6-5 win over Huskies

SYDNEY, N.S. — Luke Patterson scored the overtime winner for the Cape Breton Eagles in a 6-5 win over the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies on Wednesday in the Quebec Maritime Junior Hockey League. Patterson netted the winner at 2:14 of OT.

Lucas Romeo scored twice and Jacob Newcombe, Dylan Andrews and Cole Burbidge each had a goal for Cape Breton, while Eagles goalie Jakub Milota made 39 saves for the win.

Benjamin Brunelle, Charles-Éric Tremblay, Ty Higgins, Lars Steiner and Nathan Langlois were Rouyn-Noranda's goal scorers.

Huskies starter Kyle Hagen repelled 14 of 19 shots before he was replaced in the third period by Samuel Meloche, who had 10 saves.

SHERBROOKE, Que. — Drummondville goaltender Riley Mercer stopped 36 of 39 shots for the Volts in a win over host Sherbrooke.

Hugo Dufour's second-period goal at 6:36 stood up as the game winner as the Phoenix scored twice in the third period to pull within one.

Marc-Olivier Beaudry, Luke Woodworth and Ethan Gauthier also scored for Drummondville.

Maxime Côté, Charles-Antoine Beauregard and Thomas Rousseau scored for Sherbrooke.

Phoenix starter Jacob Brochu stopped all 11 shots he faced, but was replaced in the second period by Linards Feldbergs, who allowed four goals on 12 shots.

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. — Justin Larose scored the game-winner at 5:06 in the third period for the host Tigers in a victory over the Olympiques.

Victoriaville also got goals from Thomas Gagnon, Sidney Deslauriers and Samuel Kingsley, with goaltender Gabriel D'Aigle's 42 saves also key to the victory.

Justin Boisselle, Charles Pigeon and Jérémie Minville each scored for Gatineau. Olympiques goaltender Kian Hodgins turned away 18 of 22 shots.
