This Port Moody brewery is searching for the next (furry) faces of its beer

Will your pet be the new face of Port Moody's Yellow Dog Brewing and its Starborn ale? There was the winners of the 2023 edition.

What's more adorable than opening up the mini-fridge to find the face of your best friend on a can of beer?

For a third consecutive year, Yellow Dog Brewing is making an open call for residents to submit a photo of their pet for an annual contest, while also raising funds to help care for more than 118,000 animals in need.

The Port Moody business () and BC SPCA are launching the annual "Make My Pet a Yellow Dog Brewing Star" next Wednesday, Sept. 4.

Interested pet owners must raise $100 or more by the Sept. 22 deadline to earn a chance to have their friend's face put on one of four cans of a limited-edition Yellow Dog Brewing label.

The top three fundraisers will be printed, while the fourth will be selected at random. The beer will be distributed and sold across the province.

Last year, nearly $231,000 was raised from 3,120 entries. A cat named Mickey placed first in the 2023 edition, followed by dogs Austin, Dopey and Archie.

"Whether it’s your current fur baby or a beloved pet from the past, now’s the time to choose the perfect photo and rally your friends for votes," reads a statement from the BC SPCA about the fundraiser.

"Every dollar donated is a vote for your pet, and all funds support vulnerable animals in need."

The contest is open to all pet owners across B.C. aged 19 years and older.
